LIFE BEFORE YOUTUBE

Youtube was not always our main focus for our careers. In fact, when we first met, we both had full time and part time jobs and decided to make cooking videos for fun when we weren’t working.

JP will tell you that he always wanted to be famous and I understand that. I always wanted to be a pop singer and then I realized I’m just not that good at singing. You can still catch me at the karaoke bar.

I got a degree in music and right after college I got my first job as an Account Executive at a radio, digital, and event media company writing, designing, and selling advertising campaigns to local and agency businesses. After 4 years working for that company I decided to try my hand at law as the assistant to a local attorney. During this time I always held a part time job waitressing or bartending. Working essentially from 8am to 10pm on the daily.

For college JP studied engineering and after his studies he landed a job in his field workings a mechanical engineer. He, just like me, had a second job in the restaurant business as a waiter. JP worked at his lean manufacturing company for 10 years and when it was coming to an end he held a position as the President of the Power System Division.

For fun, on Tuesdays, I landed a gig producing and hosting an open mic at a local theatre and that is where JP and I met. My show was an all arts open mic but the town brought in lots of singer songwriters as well as bands. Once in a while I’d get a comedian to take the stage and that’s what brought JP to me. Performing. He took the stage for the first time after I’d been producing the show for 3 years and then he came to every show since. We started to realize we had the same hobbies, friends, and lifestyle. We clicked on so many levels. We started dating.

We worked hard but also played hard. During time off we created Youtube videos with our friends about the things that we loved - food, food, and food. It was a general escape from our medial positions at our jobs. What happened next... well, wait for the next post and I'll continue the story. :)
